FilmTT to reveal winning filmmakers on TTT's The Pitch:

The Trinidad and Tobago Film Company Ltd (FilmTT) will announce the completion of its Business of Film: Script to Screen Programme with a live show on TTT on September 30 at 7.30 pm.

The Pitch will showcase a programme recap, participants’ reviews and judges’ feedback as well as an address from Minister of Trade and Industry Paula Gopee-Scoon, said a media release.

The Script to Screen programme aimed to position stakeholders at a greater advantage through access to business opportunities and professional growth. Local and international industry professionals facilitated the sessions, which included practical components and funding incentives. The workshops aimed to bridge the gaps by providing filmmakers with the proper story/script-writing skills, production tools, and marketing and distribution guidelines, the release said.

Since the launch of the programme in May, 22 participants were selected for five workshops facilitated by Stage 32 educator Jason Mirch. The virtual workshops were held via Zoom and focused on the main production areas of scriptwriting, pre-production, production, post-production and marketing. Each session was followed by a practical assignment that provided participants with additional guidance and feedback.

In August, ten of the 22 participants presented a two-minute pitch during the preliminary pitch phase, of which six advanced to the final pitch. The top three will receive development funding awards, and they will be revealed on The Pitch on TTT.

The judges' panel consisted of creative industry professionals: Calvin Bijou, chairman, CreativeTT; Abeo Jackson, actor, writer, director, creative producer; Sherese Moise of SM Elevation, LLC; Deborah Hoyte of ExporTT; Diane Robertson, head of TV programming, TTT; Lorraine O’Connor, director on the FilmTT board and Lisa Wickham of Imagine Media International Ltd.

Leslie-Ann Wills-Caton, general manager, FilmTT, praised the pitches.

“The participants have come a long way on their Script to Screen journey with us and we are excited to showcase some of these moments as well as give them an opportunity to share their experiences with the public via the live show," Wills-Caton said in the release.

"We have heard so many great, family-friendly content pitches of the comedic, romantic and adventurous genre and we want you, the public, to get a taste of it on The Pitch on Thursday, September 30, on TTT,”
